Trip to Lake Michigan

Well, back after a weekend at Lake Michigan and the towns near it.
In out family, instead of presents for a birthday the "birthday girl/boy" gets to choose what he or she wants to do for the nearest weekend and everyone else in the family has to humor the person :)
So, this week being my birthday (wednesday!) I chose to go to the lake and to Saugatuck and whatever else towns we passed by. It turned out to be a lot of fun!!
Several months earlier, during my mom's birthday weekend she chose to go to the Holland, Michigan Tulip Festival which is near my favorite park on the water. We found said park while there for a picnic lunch for my moms birthday, Tunnel Park is the name. We swam in the lake, which was surprisingly warm and the sand was clean and soft, no rocks or weeds. Perfect!
The next day we walked around the downtown of Saugatuck and a little bit of Douglas. Saugatuck is a very interesting town. There are so many little privately owned businesses and small art shops. Very cool.
So is was a great weekend!!
Here are a few pictures of our time in downtown Saugatuck.

Misty mountains (Mt. Baldhead).
The water we were drinking coffee next to somewhat early in the morning. it was still raining out a little so we were sitting under the shelter of a gazebo.

A boat heading out for a day on the water!

An alley way that leads to a cool shop with outdoor arts like statues and the like and in a building paintings and I think it was glass work but in the form of pictures ready to hang on the wall!

Flora around the sidewalks. Actually, the building behind is a public bathroom but you wouldn't know it!
