Up Rooted

This weekend was a working weekend. While my dad revamped his professional wardrobe, my brothers and I dug out the twenty three bushes in the front yard in two hours, we had the job done when my parents returned. The plants were not thriving having not been planted correctly, sitting in clay and rocky dirt. Though this fact made digging them out easier. Before we plant the new trees and buses, we will have to change the soil, adding dark and rich potting soil to the mix.
Now the front of our house, though it looks better now than it did before, is bare. We do have a plan for the current empty space. My mom and I are contemplating many different trees and bushes to replace the yellowish green hedges we ripped out.  Red rose bushes,  Mock orange trees, a White Snowball tree, flowering Plum bushes, lilacs and a ground cover (Blue Phlox) to spread everywhere to keep the pesky weeds at bay. Then, after nightfall we conducted "covert operations" and tossed the old bushes into the woods of a empty field across from our neighborhood.
The next day we took it easy, playing more than working as we woke up late and played tennis for hours and enjoying the sunset.
Next weekend is supposed to be the start of replanting the front yard's flora… Before too long the landscaping will be filled in! And hopefully, with diligent care, they will grow tall and leave little open space!
