Sprouting up. The whole yard is beginning to turn green again, the grass gradually shifting from the color of hay to a rich brilliant green. The first flowers to bloom this year the tulips and the vinca (our ground cover) are now joined by the weeping cherry tree that stands near the garage, it's branches hanging down that would be touching the ground if we had not trimmed it last year (it can catch disease if the branches lay on the ground).
Everything has come back this year, stretching leaves, sprouting out of the rain wet earth. The mint, which was diseased last year, seems to have made a full recovery. Many, many new little leaves popping up everywhere, a rich dark green tinged with crimson veins that runs along the underside of the tiny leaf.
I spent several hours this weekend weeding the raspberries and strawberries, pulling out all the grass that somehow got into the bins. It was a beautiful weekend, the sun was shining and warm, warm enough to give me sunburn and a gentle breeze.
When we come back after the stay in Chicago, the yard will be amazing, a live with all the plants let to grow as they will for the whole year. That will be incredible!

The first of the tulips, white and yellow. Still to sprout up from the ground is deep red and orange. 

Just today, the cherry tree is in full bloom!
