Back home at last. It feels good to be back in my own bed, but the trip was fun, a lot of fun. We took it slower getting to Maine than we might have done in the past with driving until we couldn't take it anymore and stop. This time we visited a few places on our way to Maine and although we did want to get home quickly once we turned toward Michigan, we still stopped and properly ate outside the car for meals. We found another favorite town in the U.S., saw the amazingly beautiful Maine coast and a couple beaches (through the pouring rain :D), laughed, explored and forged new blue line on the map.
A week of travel on the road with all five of us. And although I am happy to be home as well, I had a great time on the road, exploring new lands and seeing new coast, at least to me and my family. It was almost like time stood still for those seven days, which was a good thing. Get out of the house and fly for a while. A good thing. But the whole of vacation is not over, still a week left and we'll make the most of it!

Driving down the coast, we stopped first at Orchard Beach which is by Portland, Maine. The rain was cold and pelting down from the grey sky. We pulled our hoods up, tied them tight and ran for the beach. We didn't want to get the car sandy at the beginning of our return trip, so we stopped at the end of the wood plank pathway, and took a few pictures.
The next and last beach we stopped at was York Beach, a little ways from Orchard Beach. The rain was still coming down steadily. We got out of the car, stood on the sidewalk that leads to a set of stairs leading to the beach below.
York Beach. I cannot imagine what other people thought of us standing out in the cold windy rain snapping pictures. It must have been hilarious.
More of York Beach. We had originally intended to stay a few days at the beach, hanging out, taking a break from constant travel, walking he beach, in general having fun. But according to the weather forecast it was going to rain for five days. No point in spending he money to sit somewhere inside while rain hits the windows and ground outside when we could be doing so for free at home. So, we gave up on the beach, packed and decided to come home.
Because of all the rain, we were soaked. So, to dry off we turned on the warm air. Once our front halves were dry, we turned over for our back halves.
Then it was back on the road!
