It all started this morning when we ran out of soy milk for our daily Indian tea (chai). So, my mom left to go to the store which only a block from our apartment building and saw that one street had been blocked off to traffic and that something was being set up there. My mom checked on the internet and asked the doorman if he knew what was going on. It turned out to be a movie premiere (or a special showing) of the new karate kid movie, and that Jackie Chan, Will Smith and his son (who is in the movie) would be attending.
So, of course my mom wanted to go. She said this was what we were in Chicago for, to do things that we would not normally get the chance to do.
The street where the event was held is on the street next to our street so it wasn't far. We stood there waiting for the stars of the movie to come for nearly three hours. Luckily clouds blotted out the sun for most of the time. But when they finally came, Jackie Chan came running passed us (since we got there early we were right against the fence barriers) holding out his hands to the people standing at the sides. We missed the first and second times he ran passed but on the last time my mom got a hand slap from Jakie Chan and I got a few pictures of the whole thing…

Jackie Chan and Jayden Smith (the two in the movie).

Will Smith.

 After everyone cleared out.

At about hour three, I was thinking that maybe we should head back home but my mom wanted to stay a little longer. And it a good thing we did or we would have missed the whole thing.
