Today we left the apartment to explore a little.
First we found the beach, which is quite near our building, only a four-five minute walk. The beach it all sand, hardly any rocks and the water transparent and blue. We were very happy to see such a nice place so near home, and next to the beach runs a approximately 10 mile running and biking road (Lakefront Trail) where my dad can run after work and meet us back at the beach for dinner.

Our apartment building is right behind these. In this picture we were standing on the beach which is right next to Olive Park.
Inside Olive Park.
Then we walked along the Lakefront Trail until we reached a second beach about two miles down the path, one of the beaches we can see from our apartment windows.
And after retracing our steps back to Olive Park we headed in the direction of the Navy Pier which is easily spotted because of the ferris wheel that is located on the pier. On the pier there is lots of tourist activities and venders along with a couple restaurants. We stopped at one place, Charlies, for a snack and drink before continuing on our exploration. As we were walking I forgot to takes many pictures, so the above one is all I have right now, but I suppose we'll go back to the pier a few more times, it being so close.
While we were standing at the end of the pier we looked back at the city.
It was a good first day of venturing out around the city. We walked about four to five miles today and then found an Indian restaurant to have a later lunch at. Now we're all back home, the boys are of course playing their computer game, my mom is reading while I type away on my laptop.
It really feels like home now.
