Today has been a long day for Mom as she as been working in the kitchen for many hours already. Snack today in itself was a lot of work, but well worth it since Dad came home earlier to help the boys out with the yard work (weed-whacking, lawn-mowing, and the like). So we all crowded around the table and enjoyed the fruits of mom's labor this afternoon.

Kale chips before baking. Just kale leaves covered with olive oil and celtic sea salt, and then baked until dried out and crispy.
The finished kale chips.
The beginnings of hummus. I was supposed to get some at the store but I forgot, so Mom made some homemade hummus, which to be honest is much better than the store bought.
The completed hummus.
While Mom began on the cooking this morning, I ventured outside under the hot sun to weed and prune the new rose and peony bins, water the new little herbs than still need a little extra care, and a few other odd jobs than had been waiting on me.
The roses seem to really have taken a liking to the bins. All of the red leaves are new growth from this past week.
And many more blooms to come!
