My mom and walked around the gardens today, surveying the newly planted basil and parsley and the returning herbs and bushes that made it through the frosts earlier this year.

The peonies are about to open up! They give off the most wonderful fragrance.

Again, sage in the verge of blooming. Still waiting to see it's flowers. Sage is not supposed to survive Michigan winters, but it did!

Same as the sage, rosemary is also not supposed to weather the winter season, but rosemary made it through and has flowered. This was the first time I had seen a rosemary flower. The shape fo the flower reminds me of the violet blossom.

The new basil plants!! Tiny and adorable. They will get large though, with plenty of spicy, peppery, delectable leaves to enjoy.

The two parsley plants mom and I planted in the garden bin soil this past weekend. Still very small, but it will make it!

Fire witch!! That is one common name for this plant, the scientific being dianthus gratianopolitanus.

And it spread, extending one little flower above the ground cover.

New growth on all the pine trees, three in total. This is the blue spruce.

And finally the norway pine. This tree has grown the most in the past year and it started out the smallest with a fe rough seasons. The bright new branches are soft and almost silky.
