In China now, almost a month into our three years or so! My family and I have been waiting for this chance for so long, it is hard to fathom that we are in China, in our house, and living here. It still feels like a dream a little. I'll give it a few more weeks before I try to get it to sink in all the way :)
Though I have not started school yet, we're finding a rhythm here; we're getting our routine together and are starting to create our new normal. It feels good. I think we are in the right place for the present, we're moving in the right direction my intuition tells me.
And, although my family and I thought we had gotten away from heavy snowfalls and we're set for warmer weather, at least light jacket weather, we got hit with 7 inches! Seven inches were sitting in the yard, on the driveway and street, on our deck table and everywhere else. The snow started last night and we thought it was only freezing rain hitting the window, but in the morning we realized how much snow had been falling all through the night. The sight was quite beautiful as we sat in the family room sipping tea. No one wanted to venture outside into the snow, but we enjoyed the scenery from the warm safety of the house.
From dad, we all heard about the rough drive it was to work this morning. People were stuck in snow drifts, and in the middle of the roads because of the deep snow. It doesn't snow like this in our part of China we've heard, so this it not a normal winter event!
Here's what the outdoors looked like in the morning hours!
Most of it is all melted now, the warm afternoon sun made quick work of the seven inches. By tomorrow, nothing of the pretty white snow will be left. Although there my be more! But since we walk instead of drive most of the time, let's hope not!
