This weekend was my littlest brother's birthday, though as he declares he is no longer little. As per family tradition, the birthday person gets to plan the whole weekend… So here is the eleven-year-old's agenda:
• Cake for a snack Friday evening (the official beginning to the celebratory weekend) and a movie after dinner.
• Saturday morning we had scones and coffee for breakfast before heading out to bowl a few games and enjoy "Cosmic Bowling" with black light and swirling lights with music blaring (it's actually quite fun, even though you can't see your ball). At night we camp out in the family room and stay up as late as is humanly possible with movies to occupy.
• This morning we had the last of the cake for breakfast and are hanging out at home, playing games, watching more movies and "chilling".
His theme, he said, was for family fun. Which, to me, is incredibly thoughtful and sweet seeing as he is only 11 and for his weekend of complete control decides to do something that we all could have fun at.
It was very fun this weekend, hanging out with him and going along for the ride he had created.
(お たんじょうび おめでとう エリック!)
During his b-day weekend, we have had the most amazing sunsets, too. Beautiful oranges, yellows, blues and pinks colored the cloudy sky, transforming it into a picturesque sky-scape……
