Today, everybody worked together and we got the entire yard dethatched (pulled the old, dry grass out from between the still living grass) in only a few hours. First Nick had to cut the grass while my parents rented the dethatcher (machine used to dethatch) and Eric and I made a cake for today's after-work tea. It was cool today, which was a good thing for working outside so nobody got overheated.
So, now the grass should be quite content. Not that it was struggling before, but with the thatch (old, dry grass) gone, water can more easily soak into the ground. Otherwise, some rain water would be held above the ground in the thatch, creating an environment for mold and fungi to grow.
We got to work right after breakfast, trying to get done with enough time still left to relax and have fun before we all fall asleep.
In all, today was quite productive, and this might be the last big project we have for the year since winter is approaching fast. Very few things to left to do to prepare for the coming cold season. Finally back to to having fires in the fireplace, drinking a lot of tea and coffee while curled up on the couch reading. I can't wait for snow when my mom and I can go hiking into the woods behind our house, out in the peaceful landscape of the forest blanketed in snow… Winter's coming fast.

The storm moving in…
While we worked outside, the sky threatened to rain on us but it held off for us.
A Burning Bush's foliage. For the majority of the year, this bush's leaves are dark green, but when autumn comes they turn a magnificent pink-red.
