A Visit to the Ponds

This afternoon, my mom and I left the house after our chemistry experiment; leaving the boys were busy adventuring around in a virtual world (they play a computer game called World of Warcraft). Instead of walking in the neighborhood, as we usually do, we headed toward the road and crossed when there was no traffic. Across the road is a wildlife preserve with several man-made ponds along with walking trails throughout, so we prefer to walk there. It's more peaceful than the neighborhood; you're alone among the trees and birds, ducks and swans in the ponds and small animals in the woods. This time my mom reminded me to bring the camera in case there was anything worth a photo. And of course I found something to photograph, mostly the annual transition to autumn exhibited in the tall cottonwood and oaks trees that line the trail. It was a great day to go walking; the sky was all blue, except for a few rogue clouds. It was warm despite the low temperature. When we woke up this morning it was 27˚F (-2˚C). But, with the warm sunlight and only a gentle cool breeze, it was quite comfortable for a leisurely walk. So, here are the pictures from this today's trek…
