Day Fifteen. 670 miles (1,078 kilometers) down! Today has to be the longest drive we have yet completed this trip, I think. And everyone is feeling it. At the moment we are in Rock Springs, Wyoming, for a one night's stay. Today itself was not that exciting: we drove for hours, the four people occupying the front half of the vehicle joked around, played with the radio, navigated dad, and occasionally snapped a picture or two; I spent all the time in the very back with my eyes trained on the typed words of several books. If I am going to be sitting still for all the better part of a day, I had better learn something! Or that is my thinking.
We drove the remainder of Oregon, the width of Idaho, and booked a hotel quite a ways into Wyoming. Home is getter closer, though it may feel like the distance is not shrinking at all. But the scenery along the way is very beautiful, like something out of the movies. I suppose that's a metaphor for life in some way. Or it could be my imagination, but back to the more pressing matter of scenery.

It seemed like a good portion of eastern Oregon had flooding problems, or at least the area we passed through.
More mountains!
Onions! And it smelled strongly of them, too. We pulled off the highway to procure coffee and this is what we found ourselves trailing behind.
Finding a decent place for a coffee break after crossing the Oregon Idaho state border.
Moxie Java cafe.
The place we are guessing to be the largest city in Idaho, Boise. The Ford dealer there.
The road ahead!
We took a little dip down into Utah which connected us to Wyoming.
One thing is side of the country certainty has going for it is the mountain views. For a stretch through eastern Oregon and a short distance into Idaho, the possibilities for interesting scenery appeared to be bleak. Luckily, we were wrong!
Entering Wyoming, and on our way to a bed for the night.
Everyone is all tucked into our hotel room, tomorrow's necessities unpacked from the back end of the Explorer. We're all hoping for a restful night's sleep to start out on the right foot tomorrow morning.
Off to take a refreshing shower and then to a world of dreams I go!
