Day Fourteen. On the way home! We are still in the state of Oregon, but one a day's time we will be out of Oregon and into Idaho. Three days and counting until we are back in our own beds!

Dad took a turn with the camera as the five of us enjoyed our last sunset on the ocean. The sky was cloudless and the horizon colored in pastels.

Once the massive sphere sunk below the horizon, we retreated indoors and curled up in bed to get a good night's rest.

The drive along Highway 101 following the coast as closely as possible was gorgeous. 

Along the way we saw several neighborhoods, small towns, and large but beautiful houses that sit near the cliff edges.

A stop along Highway 101 with paths down to the water's edge. We all starving, having not eaten anything before packing the car and checking out of the hotel, and were in a hurry to find food, so we forewent a walk to the water.

Just in front of the logs in this picture there is supposedly a blowhole, but you can only see it in action during a storm or at high tide. Right place, but wrong time.

After breakfast at Nature's Corner Cafe and Market, we traveled inland toward Eugene, Oregon.

And when in Eugene, we stopped for a coffee break at The Wandering Goat Coffee Company. Everyone decided to try a Borgia, which is a latte with double shot of espresso and orange zest. Mom and I quite like it, but it did not go over so well with the boys.

And then it was back into the mountains for us! This picture directly above is of Mount. Washington in the distance.

For tonight, we are bunking in Hines, Oregon. For the next few days it is hardcore driving for us as we traverse Nebraska and Iowa, two flat states consisting mostly of corn fields mile after mile after mile. I have not yet been to either state yet but I heard from family that it is a very long and uneventful ride. But it will be worth it to be back in our own home, sleep in our own beds, and eat our own food again. 

And now to bed since we are planning for an early morning tomorrow to start us off well on a several-hundred-mile drive.  It's a really good thing the seats in the Explorer are so comfortable!
