Rain! Beautiful, cleansing rain. A break from the unyielding heat of the past several days. It was blissful sleeping last night with soothingly gentle tapping of raindrops coming in through open windows. I hope the rest of this summer stays like this!

Peonies on their last blooms of this year.

New roses bloomed! Their perfume drifts all around the backyard. 

The chives are larger and fuller than ever. It seems the new plants taken to their new homes. The herbs have grown considerably since planting. 

In this bin, three basil (one of them sweet basil), three coriander (a.k.a cilantro), and two sage.

Growing here is two flat leaf parsley, one curly leaf parsley, and farthest back is catnip which has begun to flower.

In the third of the four new bins three more basil plants grown accompanied by one oregano and two dill plants.

Rosemary and the last catnip grow in the bin that is shaded by the maple tree. In the spaces of dirt lies hundreds of seeds. It was a but late in the season to sow seeds but I'm hoping some of the them will find it favorable to sprout. It's only been a couple days since putting the tiny herb seeds under soil so there's still time before any signs of growth should appear. But I'm hoping!

The thyme that creeps between the bushes in front of the house has open tiny pink flowers. 

And not far behind the thyme is echinacea.

Now that the vinca has ceased blooming, the other plants has taken up where the ground cover left off giving color to the front landscaping. 

Lobelia seeds hide in this bin. St. John's Wort, Butterbur, Fennel and may others are, with any luck, beginning to stretch roots into the soil.
